Sonakshi Sinha to star opposite Akshay Kumar in Joker

After impressing one and all with her performance in Dabangg, Sonakshi Sinha is certainly a hot property. The pretty actress has been signed by Shirish Kunder for his ambitious 3D directorial venture Joker. Sonakshi would be paired opposite none other than Akshay Kumar in Joker.

Explaining his choice of why Sonakshi for the leading lady, Shirish reasons, "Sonakshi fitted the role perfectly. Hers is an extremely performance oriented character which is there throughout the film with Akshay. Besides another reason for choosing Sonakshi is the fact that she and Akki would be a fresh on-screen pair considering Akshay has worked with most of the top leading ladies." Unlike Dabangg in which she played a village belle, Sonakshi would be seen playing a modern girl in Joker.

Besides Akshay and Sonakshi, Joker would also boast of a huge supporting cast which Shirish would be announcing in the days to come. Commenting on whether there will be some Hollywood technicians involved considering that it's a 3-D film, Shirish says, "Most of the technicians will be from India but yes, since this a new technology, we would be using the expertise of some experienced names from Hollywood too."

Joker is a co-production between Farah Khan & Shirish Kunder's Three's Company and Akshay's Hari Om Entertainment. The film goes on floors in January 2011 and will be mostly shot all around India.

Sonakshi’s a true desi girl!

Did you notice Sonakshi’s Indian look in Dabangg? It was no accident. Her father Shatrughan Sinha says the newcomer will continue to depict Indian women in her upcoming projects.
“People are praising her look in Dabangg. After a long time, a typical Indian heroine was seen onscreen. Sonakshi will continue to do roles that are within the boundaries of self-respect. She will not compromise her values for some rat race. She is in no hurry,” Sinha says.
The actor-politician feels that right attitude is more important than short clothes to portray a character onscreen. Sonakshi has already signed another film with Salman Khan, her co-star in Dabangg, besides bagging projects with directors like Farah Khan, Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Sajid Nadiadwala. She is also in Race 2.

The bong beauty, Bipasha Basu and the handsome hunk, John Abraham had so many rounds of break ups in the eyes of the media…..perhaps even the lovely couple would not be able to count on that! According to recent news, the eight year old relationship between these two actors has come to a standstill and Bollywood is buzzing with this news as usual.
Bipasha and John were seen to be dating each other during the making of the very hot ‘Jism’. Even director Amit Saxena confessed that he thought the couple had more than ‘just friendship’ while on the sets of the film. Though John has been quite open in the media about his love for Bipasha, Bips on the other hand has usually mentioned John as her ‘best buddy’ who she is most comfortable working with.
The first news of their breakup came in after the couple completed a hectic schedule for the making of the film Goal. According to sources the couple was seen having a tiff over John referring other Bolly actresses like Priyanka Chopra for roles opposite him. A close source said that the duo was having more quarrels than they could handle and had decided to call off their relationship.
Post this incident, news of fight over the phone was also heard when Bips was in Rio for the shooting of Dhoom-2. Bipasha reportedly started weeping after a call from John. She even confided in her close friend Abhishek Bachchan who shared screen space with her in the film. Infact Aishwarya was also said to be feeling sorry for the Bong beauty.
Recent news of the couple finally deciding to separate came in a month ago. Close friend of the couple have said that the split was inevitable as John was keener on settling down in his personal life but Bips, being the more ambitious and successful of the two was not too keen on marriage at this moment of her life.
Bipasha and John came out with an explanation as an answer to the rumours that have been spreading like wild fire. They said that their individual professional commitments have not allowed them to make public appearances together for a long time and that has probably caused such doubts among people around. Though Bipasha sent a tweet recently clearing any such news between the two, fans of the couple would have to judge the sensitivity of the situation themselves…..because Bolly town is unimaginable without both…..split ups…..and rumours!!

Sonakshi Sinha on weight loss spree for ‘Race 2′

Sonakshi Sinha, who is in “Race 2″, will have to rev up the feline quotient to the optimum as director duo Abbas-Mustan want to do away with her ‘gaon ki gori’ image completely. So the actress is busy shedding extra pounds. “First, I had to lose weight for my debut in Dabangg. Now I’ve to get into even better shape for ‘Joker’ and ‘Race 2′. For the last two years that’s all I seem to be doing. Losing weight. But I am fine with that. Because it’s important for me to look good,” said Sonakshi, 23.
After playing the demure village girl in in “Dabangg”, Sonakshi will get into a serious kickass mode for “Race 2″.
“Bipasha Basu was presented in a very striking way in Race. We’ve to make sure Sonakshi is equally presented in the sequel,” says producer Ramesh Taurani.
But before “Race 2″, there is Shirish Kunder’s “Joker”.
Sonakshi, who got no opportunity to display her dancing skills in “Dabangg”, was eagerly looking forward to her own slice of Farah Khan’s sizzle in “Joker”.
To her dismay Farah and Shrish have informed her that her character gets no chance to dance in their film.
“I requested Farah to please, please make me dance in her husband’s film. But my character doesn’t have any dance-able opportunities. Sad. We’ll have to wait for another occasion.”
Perhaps “Race 2″ will provide her with a chance to sizzle in a song and a chance to do some serious action.
“Yes,” Sonakshi says excitedly, “It’s a very guns-and-gadgets subject. And I’m looking forward to doing my own dancing.”

Playing 40 was the toughest – Priyanka Chopra

From a 21-year-old to a 65-year-old, Priyanka Chopra portrays almost every crucial stage in a woman’s life in her new thriller “7 Saat Khoon Maaf”. But she says stepping into the shoes of a 40-plus character was the toughest as she couldn’t connect to the age group.
“The 20s was my age, so it was fine and not so difficult; 30s was something I could expect and somehow imagined. The 50s and 60s were still easier to do because you become a lot more older so your body language is like that.
“But the 40s was the middle period, so it was very difficult. You are not very old but you are not very young either. So to get that correctly was a task,” Priyanka, 28, told IANS in an interview.
The film, which will be showcased at Berlinale, is the big screen adaptation of Ruskin Bond’s short story “Susannah’s Seven Husbands”.
When Vishal Bharadwaj, who had earlier adapted “Blue Umbrella” by the grand old “sahib” from Landour in Mussourie, decided to make a movie on it, the author expanded the few-page short tale into an 80-page novella and then into a 200-page full-length Hindi movie script.
“It’s a very entertaining and wicked movie. It’s amusing and not serious. It’s a satire which makes it very interesting,” said the mainstream actress who proved her versatility as a highly ambitious model in issue-based movie “Fashion” and won the National Award for her performance. She was a delight to watch in “Kaminey”.
“7 Saat Khoon Maaf” is slated for a Feb 18 release. This is Priyanka’s second film with Bharadwaj after the 2009 release “Kaminey” and the actress has no qualms in saying that the director knows how to exploit her potential.
“Vishal has always brought out the best in me and this time too he has given me one of the most challenging parts an actor can get. I’m really grateful that he thought I was capable enough to do it and pull it off,” she said.
“There is a lot of responsibility on you when you work with a director like him. He is the kind of person who gives you the scene and says ‘okay, do it now’. No instructions. After I give my first take, he tweeks it a little bit. So the responsibility as an actor is completely on you, which is very scary,” she added.
The film’s promos hit the screens some time back and have created enough curiosity thanks to Priyanka’s sinister look and menacing tone.
The actress says the role demanded a lot from her.
“It was emotionally and physically very draining and I used to take out all my tantrums on Vishal. We used to fight like anything. He used to yell at me and I used to yell back. But then we used to make up,” she said.
The former Miss World jumped on to the Bollywood bandwagon in 2003 with “The Hero: Love Story Of A Spy”. In eight years, she has done commercial as well as author-backed sensitive roles too.
She is happy that people offer her powerful roles.
“The films that come to me are like that. Nobody offers me films where I don’t have a good role. All my films have very power-packed parts for me. I’m grateful that people say that I’m the only one who can do those roles. It’s never been a conscious effort, but obviously if I’m doing a film, I would want a good role in it,” specified Priyanka.
The actress will be seen in a different avatar in Anurag Basu’s “Barfee”, which also stars Ranbir Kapoor.

However, no Hindi animation feature films are included in the festival. Ashar said: “Though Indian cinema has come up with a lot of animated films lately, none has been so credible in particular.
